A succesfully executed mixture betweeen bohemian chic, industrial grit, maritime charm, hip streetsmartness and stylish souvenir art. Artist and design team Frank Bürman and Jutta von Perfall create unique hand painted and hand printed fashion and home decoration textile products in their workstudio in Hamburg. Love for Hamburg is the common theme that flows through everything they make here, generating items with a strong maritime and industrial harbour flavour. The brand and company name The Art of Hamburg really describes the concept perfectly; this is art and it is designed, created and sold in Hamburg.
I visited their store in St Georg on the Lange Reihe street and had the chance to talk to Sabine and Frank. Sabine introduced me to the concept behind The Art of Hamburg and their different product lines, of which Maschinist is my personal favourite. Their two shops are beautifully decorated in maritime theme with white painted wood planks.
I just adore the baby collection. How cool wouldn’t it to be to dress up an infant girl in the Maschinistin babybody?
One thing is certain, you don’t have to love Hamburg in order to love The Art of Hamburg. It’s an added bonus if you do. Souvenir merchandise has never looked this cool.
PS! If you don’t have the possibility to stop by their stores you may also buy their products from their [online shop]
